Latvia, Jaunmārupe primary school project “Communication is an Art” results

Erasmus Club  - during the Erasmus Club activities, Jaunmārupes primary school focuses on communication as the key factor during workshops in school. Students created a collage about what communication is to them - different pictograms that correspond with social media platforms. The bright and colorful communication puzzle served as a non-verbal and international form of communication about student’s views on the topic of communication.

Project silent theater play video - a creative theatrical video created during mobility in Latvia showcasing the difficulties, obstacles and success of communication. The play was focused as a form of non-verbal communication, allowing students from all partner schools to participate freely and express their emotions and ideas.

Project dance video in Latvia - the flash-mob style video was created as a dance activity for the project, putting focus on non-verbal and cultural communication. The activity allowed the students to express themselves through a non-verbal media and created a space of light and positive atmosphere, which is essential in all activities including students.

Project song video in Latvia - the music video was created in order to participate in the project song contest. The students enthusiastically participated in filming the video and portraying the lyrics as well as recording the audio of the song, working on their teamwork. The activity allowed the students to explore another form of international communication - music.

Project logo - the project logo was created through several stage voting processes - first in partner schools of the project and then by voting from the project partners. Logo compiled of work-bees, symbolizing the partner countries, and a honeycomb designed by a student from Jaunmārupes primary school was chosen as the project logo. The hardworking work-bee and their interesting way of communicating was the perfect symbol for the project.

Presentation “Welcome to Latvia” - a presentation offering an insight into Latvia as a country and Mārupes municipality in particular as well as Jaunmārupes primary school. It focuses on the educational system, traditions and goals of the municipality and the school, introducing the differences and similarities to other project schools.



Latvia “Create to Communicate”

Communication game “Create to Communicate”- an interactive game was created by students of Latvian team in order to allow each participant to gain a better understanding of the culture and language of each country. Through nine stages and tasks - values, symbols, rhythm, songs, dance, communication, geography and project song - the participants could learn more about each other, their countries and traditions, creating more depth to their intercultural communication and person-to-person communication. The game creates a feeling of unity and understanding between participants and a creative space where to show the pride of their country.
